  • Reports noted that a three-nation hub has been established in Sherpur district of Bangladesh with its land port finally linked with Bhutan, Nepal and India. Bhutan is 200km away from Sherpur and a Sherpur-Bhutan transit road would be constructed soon.1

Meanwhile in a violent incident in south Bhutan, four Bhutanese personnel were injured when suspected NDFB militants (anti-talks) ambushed a Bhutan police party between Sarpang and Gelephu road in Bhutan's Sarpang district bordering Kokrajhar district of Assam.2 In response to these attacks, Prime Minister Jigme Y Thinley underlined the urgency to contain such activities. Thinley has asserted that Bhutan will never allow any militant group to set up camps on its soil and announced that there were no North East militant hideouts in the country since 2003.3
