  • Reports noted that the United States is withdrawing its forces from Pech valley in the Kunar province of Afghanistan, after years of fighting for the control of the region which was once called as vital for campaign against Taliban and Al Qaeda. The withdrawal formally began on February 15. According to military sources, the withdrawal will take about two months which is a part of a shift of western forces to the Kunar province’s more populated areas. However, Afghan units will remain in the Pech valley.1
