President Nasheed lauds Indian people, its its democratic institutions and government; Maldivian President sends republic day message to India

According to reports, addressing a gathering in the Friendship Association of India-Maldives (FAIM) website launching programme on January 26, President lauded the Indian "people, its government and its institutions for the very necessary and good assistance they continue to give to the Maldives in its work to become a democratic society. Maldives has learnt its "lessons from the Indian experience", said President Mohamed Nasheed as the Indian envoy in Maldives described the country as "perhaps one of India's closest partners". 1
In other develoepmts, President Mohamed Nasheed has sent republic day greetings to Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. 2
