A suicide bomber killed 42 and injured more than 100 in Salahuddin province. Ahmed Abdul-Jabbar, Deputy Governor of Salahuddin province said “who else would it be but Al Qaeda, who keeps on slaughtering us.” The attack took place outside a police recruiting centre where Iraqi men were lining up with their documents, willing to get a job. Salahuddin province which is home to Saddam’s family, continues to suffer frequent attacks by suspected Sunni Islamist insurgents opposed to the Shia-led authorities in Baghdad. Insurgents have speed up their attacks on Iraqi police and troops since US forces formally ended combat operations last August ahead of a full withdrawal this year. Even a day after, in another incident, suicide bombers killed 13 people and wounded many in different places in Iraq.1
