India raises defence export license concerns with US

  • During his meeting with the visiting US Defence Secretary, Robert Gates, Defence Minister A.K. Antony raised “concerns regarding denial of export licenses” to various Indian defence industrial establishments and their inclusion in the US ‘Entity List’. Expressing “satisfaction” with the progress of bilateral defence cooperation since the signing of bilateral cooperation agreement in 2005, Mr. Antony informed his visiting counterpart that the bilateral defence trade relations “should move from a purely buyer-seller relationship to a more comprehensive relationship covering transfer of technology and co-production.”1
