  • India’s External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna who was on a two day visit to Kabul. He firmly stated that India would not pull out of Afghanistan in the face of security threats and will continue its work in the country with cooperation from the Afghan government.1

    At least 16 people were killed including a police commando in a suicide attack in Southern Afghanistan. The attack took place in a public bath house in the town of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province bordering Pakistan. The Afghan government and the international forces stationed in the region condemned the attack, calling it “brutal and inhumane”.2

    Reports noted that a high peace council from Afghanistan will visit Islamabad to hold rounds of talk with the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan on Taliban insurgency and a solution to the problem. The 70 member group will be led by former President of Afghanistan Burhanuddin Rabbani.3
