One of the most advanced fighters of the IAF, a SU-30 MKI on a routine training sortie crashed near Pokhran on November 30. Following the crash, the IAF grounded the entire fleet. The IAF has about 90 SU-30MKI currently and is in the process of acquiring 230 such aircraft, of which 140 are to be manufactured/assembled by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL). The fighter which crashed in Pokhran was reportedly supplied by the HAL.1
