Indian Delegation to participate in Interpol meeting

    Reports noted that Union Home Minister, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde will participate in the International Criminal Police Organization (ICPO)-Interpol Ministerial Meeting to be held at Rome, Italy on November 5, 2012, along with an Indian Delegation. The Home Minister would be addressing the General Assembly on Terrorist violence. 1

    In another development, reports noted that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) would soon convene a high-level meeting with experts in the field of engineering and Army officials to ascertain feasibility of erecting permanent fence along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir that can withstand heavy snowfall. The move is aimed at achieving zero-infiltration of militants from Pakistan and PaK. In the meeting, which would be chaired by Union Secretary R K Singh, experts from Central Public Works Department, National Buildings Construction Corporation, IIT and Engineering Corps of the Army would be asked to study the feasibility of erecting an all-weather fence that can withstand snow avalanches and heavy snowfall. 2
