  • Boeing has submitted two proposals to the Indian Air Force, offering its AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter and the CH-47F Chinook heavy-lift, twin-rotor helicopter. The IAF had floated a global tender for 22 combat helicopters and 15 heavy-lift helicopters, valued at around $2 billion, in May 2009. Vivek Lall, Vice-President and India country head for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems stated that the “Apache will be a capable and lethal defender of India's troops and assets, while the Chinook will answer many of the country's military and humanitarian needs." In January 2009, Boeing had signed a $2.1 billion contract with the India’s MoD for supplying eight P8I maritime reconnaissance aircraft by 2015.1
