  • According to reports, Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif said that the successes achieved during the visit of the Iranian team to New York to attend the UN General Assembly meeting were a “great victory” for the Islamic Republic. He stated, “my position is quite clear and I consider the New York visit a great victory for the system and I will not allow the successes of the visit of the Iranian delegation to be undermined,”. The foreign minister also dismissed remarks by MP Hossein Naqavi Hosseini that the subjects discussed during his meeting with the members of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee were not “secret”. He pointed out, “It is better that he (Naqavi) review the first sentence that was mentioned in the meeting.” 1
Meanwhile, according to reports, President Hassan Rouhani on October 7 said that the Western-led sanctions against Iran have made the Iranian people’s access to medicine difficult and are a violation of human rights. The president also said, “We should all be careful that the issue of human rights is not turned into a political issue, and we should bear this in mind that human rights are not fully observed in any country and there are weaknesses (in all countries). Rouhani went on to say that Tehran is determined to resolve its nuclear dispute with the West in a “short time”. The president added that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Iran has “absolute right” to nuclear technology and is ready to clear up ambiguities about its nuclear program in negotiations with the 5+1 group. 2
