  • Reports noted that External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov signed a Joint Statement on "No First Deployment of Weapons in Outer Space" on the margins of the UNGA Sessions in New York on 27th September. 1

    According to reports, two Russian Naval Ships ‘Varyag’ and ‘Boris Butoma’, arrived at the port of Trincomalee on a goodwill visit from October 4 -8, 2013. 2

    Reports noted that inflation in Sri Lanka has decreased to 6.2 per cent in September 2013 from 6.3 per cent in the previous month, mainly due to low food prices, the Central Bank said. The annual average inflation rate also decreased further to 7.8 per cent in September 2013 from 8.0 per cent in the previous month, for the fourth consecutive month. 3
