South Korean President Park Geun Hye, while addressing at the Armed Forces Day ceremony on October 1, 2013, pledged to deter North Korea’s nuclear threats and render its nuclear weapons useless. While insisting that South Korea would continue to maintain its strong security relations with the US, Park further assured that the former would secure anti-weapons of mass destruction capabilities, such as kill chain and the Korea Air and Missile Defense (KAMD) system. 1
